My love story is pretty simple. The older I get the more I am able to reflect on the things that mean most to me about relationships. Though I am still young and my relationship has much to grow into, my favorite part about it is that apart we are individuals, together, we are are unstoppable.
I think it's important to recognize the difference between not being able to live without someone and being a better person because of someone. I think you should be your own person and know who you are and find love for yourself before you love anyone else. But when you find the person that opens your mind to new worlds and makes your dreams feel achievable and adds way more to your world than you could have ever imagined is when you know you have found someone worth keeping.
I will never forget the feeling of falling in love with Cole and realizing that we both were better together than we ever were apart. I was with my friend Christie tonight who mentioned an interesting idea. She said she treats relationships like cars. When they are brand new, they work great. But as time goes on you have to do check ups and make sure everything is still working and running smoothly. I thought that was a really cool way to think about it. Sometimes we forget to check in.
For those of you still searching for love, the best way to find it is to love yourself first.
I can't tell you how long it took me to grasp that concept in life. But I was physically unable to fully give myself and my love to someone else until I understood my own heart and what it needed. EVERYONE deserves love. And even if you have someone who loves you, make sure you take time to check in with yourself, make sure YOU LOVE YOU!
I linked our outfits below, everything in this post is from of course my favorite Urban Outfitters, it was fun, Cole and I picked out each others outfits this time. It's not too late to get your significant other a little surprise. Urban has lots of little Valentines goodies from bubble baths and perfumes to cool gadgets and rad pins.
